Board Members are the administrative backbone of Flock Theatre. It’s an important role that helps shape Flock’s long-term direction — with less day-to-day involvement than other positions, but just as much impact.
Roles as Board Members
We currently have two open positions:
Keeps track of meetings, decisions, and important documents — and helps keep communication clear and organised.
- Accountant (penningmeester)
Keeps an eye on the money: budgeting, financial reporting, and making sure the numbers add up.
P.S. The day-to-day financial work is done by Gael—the accountant provides oversight, asks the right questions, and helps keep things on track.
Sonja Werners will continue as Chair (voorzitter) for the foreseeable future. We think she’s a delight to work with: smart, efficient, and warm.
Perks and Responsibilities as Board Members
- Joining board meetings 4 times a year (online or in person). We intend to keep them efficient and gezellig—ideally paired with a Flock event, or at least some food.
- Helping with big-picture decisions about Flock’s structure, sustainability, and direction.
- Reviewing and signing off on the annual budget and other financial documents—all explained in plain language, of course.
- Offering advice or support to Laura and Gael when legal, financial, or organisational questions come up.
- Acting as a sounding board for the direction of Flock Theatre—when we have ideas, we’ll want to know what you think.
- Keeping an ear to the ground for what’s happening in and around Flock, even if you’re not involved in daily operations.
- A chance to see how a cultural organisation works behind the scenes, while building your experience, network, and CV along the way.
- Taking part in voting on major decisions, like any changes to the foundation or its statutes.
