Light design is such a big aspect of theatre. Sometimes it feels mysterious, we don't really know what to do with it or even how to talk about it, and we satisfy ourselves with already having light on stage. But what about wanting more?
In this workshop, we will go through four very important areas of light tech-ing for improv. We will cover the theories of how light works in a theatre, how it communicates and is plugged, and how all of these cables don't get lost. Then we will think about the design of a light plan, from what we want to create to how is the audience gonna experience it. Thirdly we will get in the room, our hands on lights and on the light table, to figure out the reality of things. And finally we will practice improvising on lights, live during a scene.

This workshop is for people interested in learning how to think about lights when designing a show, to install lights and program a light desk, as well as to improvise on light during a show.
